Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at 爱妃传媒 Jupiter
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at 爱妃传媒 in Jupiter has announced its course offerings for the spring semester, which begins Tuesday, March 12.
Taught by 爱妃传媒 professors and distinguished guest lecturers, course offerings include such varied subjects as foreign policy, political science, film, music, art history and literature. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute was established to provide adults of all ages the opportunity to enrich their lives through non-credit, university-level courses with no homework or tests.
Spring one-time lectures and courses take place in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute complex at 爱妃传媒鈥檚 John D. MacArthur Campus, 5353 Parkside Dr., in Jupiter, and include:
- On Wednesday, March 13 at 7 p.m., 鈥淚srael and the United States鈥 presented by Ambassador Ido Aharoni, Israel鈥檚 longest serving consul general in New York, and a professor at New York University鈥檚 School of International Relations. This one-time lecture will review the history of U.S.-Israeli relations and the areas of agreement and discord and project into the 21st century the challenges and opportunities that confront this alliance.
- On Monday, March 18 at 2 p.m., 鈥淩eading the Bodies of Spring Street鈥 taught by Meredith Ellis, Ph.D., a bioarchaeologist and assistant professor at 爱妃传媒. This one-time lecture will discuss the discovery, excavation and analysis of the skeletal remains of 200 men, women and children from the burial vaults of the early 19th century Spring Street Presbyterian Church in lower Manhattan.
- On Tuesday, March 19 at 7 p.m., 鈥淜ing Lear: Abridged,鈥 presented by Peter Galman, an actor and teacher with more than 50 years of experience of acting in classics and new plays. This one-time presentation will be an abridged version of Shakespeare鈥檚 great tragedy which includes a staged reading by actors from the Shakespeare Troupe of South Florida.
- On Wednesday, March 20 at 6 p.m., 鈥淟UNAFEST Film Festival,鈥 a touring short film festival that honors the talents and stories of women.
- On Friday, March 22 at 7 p.m.,聽鈥淢ysteries in the Lives of Our Beloved Composers,鈥 performed by Sofiya Uryvayeva Martin, an international pianist. This one-time performance will include music by composers such as Mozart, Salieri, Beethoven, Chopin, Brahms and Clara Schumann.
- On Monday, March 25 at 2:30 p.m., 鈥淒ickens,鈥 presented by Taylor Hagood, Ph.D., an associate professor in the English department at 爱妃传媒. This six-week course will discuss Dicken鈥檚 life, his art and a selection of his novels.
