Osher LLI at 爱妃传媒 Announces Spring Course Schedule
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at 爱妃传媒 in Jupiter has announced its course offerings for the spring semester, which begins Thursday, March 25.
Taught by 爱妃传媒 professors and distinguished guest lecturers, course offerings include such varied subjects as foreign policy, political science, film, music, art history and literature. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute was established to provide adults of all ages the opportunity to enrich their lives through non-credit, university-level courses with no homework or tests.
Spring one-time lectures and courses will be offered online and include:
- On Thursday, March 25 at 2 p.m., 鈥淥bjection! Current Contentious and Confusing Legal Battles,鈥 presented by Irving Labovitz, J.D., a Boston University School of Law graduate who was admitted before the U.S. Supreme Court, as well as multiple federal appellate and trial courts. This eight-week course, presented live on Zoom, focuses on selected current, highly publicized, volatile, and contentious legal and constitutional issues.
- On Wednesday, March 31, 鈥淎merican Foreign Policy: The Biden Administration,鈥 taught by Jeffrey Morton, Ph.D., a professor of political science and the director of the Leon Charney Diplomacy Program at 爱妃传媒. This seven-week pre-recorded course will include topic background, U.S. interests and foreign policy options.
- On Monday, April 5 at 2 p.m., 鈥淟illian Leitzel: Lady of Daring,鈥 presented by Taylor Hagood, Ph.D., a professor of American literature at 爱妃传媒. This one-time lecture, live on Zoom, presents the life of Leitzel, from her career to her fairytale romance to her spectacular and tragic end.
- On Monday, April 12, 鈥淭he Biden Administration, Israel and the Arab States: Prospects and Challenges,鈥 presented by Robert Rabil, Ph.D., a professor of political science at 爱妃传媒. This one-time pre-recorded lecture underscores the prospects and challenges facing the Biden administration and ponders its approach to them.
- On Monday, April 12,聽鈥淭he Jews of the Silk Road and China: Discovering the Diasporas that Changed the Western World,鈥 presented by Wes Ervin, Ph.D., an Asian art history graduate of the University of Chicago. This one-time pre-recorded lecture will focus on the critical role that the Silk Road Jews played in inventing key financial inventions that facilitated the birth of capitalism in Renaissance Europe.
- On Friday, April 23 at 11 a.m., 鈥淟obbying in America,鈥 presented by Ralph Nurnberger, Ph.D., a professor that taught at Georgetown University, and Justin Gray, J.D., the president and CEO of Gray Global Advisors, LLC, an advisory firm that specializes in government affairs and business consulting. This one-time lecture, presented live on Zoom, will provide a history of lobbying, the nature of how lobbying in Washington has evolved over the years, and the differences between representing domestic and foreign interests. 聽
