Florida First Lady Ann Scott visited A.D. Henderson University School and °®åú´«Ã½ High School to celebrate their first-place finish in Scott’s 2015 Summer Literacy Adventure.
The K-12 °®åú´«Ã½ read 9,685 books last summer, more than any other school in Florida. During her visit, Scott read to a group of third-grade °®åú´«Ã½ and took a tour of °®åú´«Ã½ High. She also donated 100 books to the library.
The Summer Literacy Adventure program is geared toward helping children stay motivated about reading year-round, especially during summer vacation. Research shows that children who do not continue reading through the summer can lose a month or more of progress made during the school year.
"First Lady Ann Scott’s Summer Literacy Adventure Challenge encourages all of our °®åú´«Ã½ to continue reading throughout the summer to reach their reading goals," said Tammy Ferguson, director of A.D. Henderson University School and °®åú´«Ã½ High School.
